4.6. Chateau Pontet Canet 2014.

With the crew at Wes’. Superb wine, and one that kickstarted a buying frenzy into the wine maker. 2014 was supposed to be a tricky year and “off vintage”. But the Pontet Canet of the year was superb. By the 1-1.5 hours of decanting, the nose was almost on full bloom. This was blackcurrent, black berry, assertive fruit, balanced against leather, earth, wood. Super complex and balanced. On the palette, more red fruit, minerality, good acidity. Epitome of balance and complexity. Unlike the 2012, it never lost its balance of fruit vs secondary flavors even after hours of decanting.
