At home with Hart.

This was a surprising one. Vouvrays tend to have a very distinct taste to me, so this stumped me.

On the nose: there was a tinge of complex funk, a hint of honey, and the usual load of minerality and green apple at initial whiff. But the nose quickly transitioned into a an almost rich, hay, and most oddly enough, aromas that I would’ve instinctly said white burg. Very fucking weird (in a nice way). The wine maintained this nose profile even after a fat dose of decanting in the bottle in an ice bucket.

On the palette: seemingly mid acidity only, but it’s only because it was counter balanced by the level of sugar in the wine. On closer inspection, certainly has a decently high acidity. In retrospect, I had a choice between busting out the sec vs this Demi sec, and I made the mistake of choosing the sweeter wine. I’ve always always enjoyed off-dry wines with food, and dry wines when drank on its own. This was the case here, and I found this just a touch too sweet to split a bottle amongst 2. Oh well.

Stunning wine for $70-80 bucks. Highly recommend for dinners.
