At the annual AmE alumni dinner.

This is my second Cordella Brunello in recent times, and I’ve been liking it a ton each time.

In the glass: very classic bright garnet with mid- body.

On the nose: freshly decanted, this is an extremely pungent and intense funk / sulphur. This wine needs to breathe. A lot. With 30 mins of aggressive swirling, it has a unique aromatic profile. Aside from the usual sour cherry, this Brunello consistently has a deep earthiness / wet soil note to it. Dried fruits. Plenty of oak. I find this to improve very significantly over the course of an hour or so.

On the palate: distinct grippy tannins that really needs quite a few more years to calm down. Elevated alcohol (14% maybe?), and dryish.

Drank way too young, but you don’t always have a choice at restaurants.
