With Hart, Jodie and the rest of the DnD after-party.

Second time trying this, which I think is the second wine of Pichon Lalande. I recall someone mentioning that this needs at least 2 hours of air to be ready. While I did decant it this time, it was maybe for just 10-15 mins.

In the glass: this is a deep, dark inky wine. Fully opaque with concentration right up to the rim.

On the nose: fairly high intensity black currant. Aromatic. Some minty notes. Some sorta flowers that I can’t pin point. I liked the nose a lot.

On the palate: I didn’t get any of the round richness that so many reviews seem to suggest. This was medium bodied, mid++ acidity that lent a lot of freshness to the mouth feel. However, the tannins were fairly aggressive and quite jarring. I did like that this was either fairly low alcohol, or it was at least extremely well integrated.
On the exhale, there’s a lean aroma to it, still largely dominated by blackcurrant and some leather.

I still have 1 of this guy. Will definitely try to give it a couple hours of air and see if the palate smoothens out. Perhaps some more age would also help the wine develop and soften up. Otherwise based on my first two tastings, it’s not likely that I would repurchase again.
