Apparently this is an emerging cult wine that’s nearly impossible to source. Only 2564 bottles were produced. Ultra high effort and attention viticulture. This specific label is intended to feature the unique terroir between Mount Macedon and Mount Bullengarook in the Macedon Ranges. Produced from all vineyard plots except those used for the limited Beyond the Forest cuvée, this Pinot Noir matured for 18 months in Stockinger casks, with 50% new oak from a 1,000-liter cask.

In the glass: this was a bright ruby, with a purple tinge. Light body that’s well transluscent.

On the nose: initially a touch shy, but this was aromatic from the get-go. My first thought was this was extremely Burgundian. There is the distinct funk (dissipates quickly), but more important the distinct stemminess that’s characteristic of whole bunch fermentation. Sour cherry, spices, hints of white pepper, touch sweet.

On the palate: light bodied, energetic and lively, with mid acidity. Touch of residual sugar in coherence with the nose. Very diff from the early burg which has a silky body.

On exhale: Wew. Same as initial nose, but now we have an earthy exhale with soft vanilla beans.

This was delicious but I suspect even just a couple of years could create magic in the glass. This is pretty, elegant and very energetic. Yum
