With Hart, Sean and Tabs at mine.

I’d rated the 2016 very highly. This evening gave me a deeper understanding of the wine.

In the glass: it’s dull dep garnet. Mid body.

On the nose: This is NOT a wine for complexity. This is linear pure fruits. It’s cherries mixed with just a tiny touch of cranberry. Just a touch of leather and earthiness. minimal oak, but it’s there.

On the palate: it’s fresh and lively. Very mildly grippy tannins. Mid finish. Juicy.

Sean wasn’t a fan, but this performed very well to my expectations. This after all a $60 wine, but the sheer quality and purity of fruits is evident. I think it’s a GREAT table wine.

That said, this wine does not have longevity in the decanter or bottle. This was left to aerate in a narrow decanter, and I was surprised to find that its nose and aromas plunged off a cliff after about 2 hours. It tasted super flat.

This is the perfect large group mass wine option. Requires minimal aeration. Fresh, amenable, and likely a crowd pleaser
