Pre Bach trip tipple with Hart at home.

I was told that this is the 2nd wine, in Ornellaia’s lineup of 3 whites. What I wasn’t informed of, was the fact that this was a Sauvignon Blanc dominant blend. I dislike Sauvignon Blanc.

83% Sauvignon Blanc, 11% Vermentino, 6% Viognier

In the glass: rich bright gold. Clear without sediments.

On the nose: shy initially when cold. Hugeee waft of minerality, a wild reductiveness that nearly goes into flinty. Rich, sweet, and some kinda stone fruit. There is of course, this super distinct grassy vegetal note that I dislike about Sauvignon Blanc,BUT thankfully this stayed in the background, so much so that I actually found this an inoffensive

On the palate: this is a strong intense-ish wine. Tiny saltiness on entry. Low alcohol, and absolutely bone dry. Acidity was just mid.

Overall, surprised that I enjoyed this as much as I did. The intensely focused minerality was a pleasure. That said, I can’t shake my general dislike for Sauvignon Blancs aromatics!

Retailed for $100, bought on sale at $66. A worthwhile gander.
