With Hart and the wine hoes at mine.

This was WS’s wine of the year in 2023, but of course this was highly controversial given that they are a pretty entry-level producer. Their 2015 was, eh, weird. In any case, my expectations were elevated.

this was the first wine for the night, and we had to vinturi this straight into the decanter and then into the glasses.

In the glass: deep dull garnet. Light bodied and completely translucent.

On the nose: very pure red cherries and red currant. integrated alcohol that’s only just a tiny touch high. I would say the ace of the wine, was the supremely balanced and delicate oak. Damn

On the palate: as expected, mid- body, mid+ acidity, decent finish, with just a pure and very nicely linear mix of red fruits and oak on the exhale.

In totality, is this TRULY a “best wine of the year caliber”…? Nah. It doesn’t really have the complexity, concentration. BUT it’s a damn enjoyable wine. Supremely well balanced. Delicate and pretty. And if you find this at random sale / non-hype prices (ie around $100 per btl), this is a good buy. I’m impressed!
