This is a tried and tested winemaker & vintage for the Raffles Block. Delicious, pure intensity of fruits and beautifully balanced. I also think 2014 is the underlooked gem vintage.

The one thing I’ve observed is that unlike many other Chateaus, it appears that Pontet-Canet’s current winemaker is quietly paying particular attention to the level of ripeness and alcohol in their wines. The most obvious sign that I uncovered, was the fact that their 2019 was made in the perfect (to me) 13.5% abv. Bear in mind, this is a vintage where everyone else saw a spike to a 14% median. Even shockingly Chateau Margaux (13.9%) and gasp, Leoville las Cases (14%).

The stash grows.
