With Hart and the rest at mine.
Second bottle from me to round off the night.

This wasn’t an intentional bottle, but it just felt like we needed one last bottle to round off the night. Then I remembered I had just grabbed this from Bacchic and was eager to try it.

In the glass: deep rich ruby/maroon. Fairly large meniscus.

On the nose: unfortunately, we didn’t have time to really let the wine breathe 🙁 this stayed fairly closed for a good part of bottle despite my attempts to swirl it in the decanter. The primary notes I got were cherries and dominant red currant, which is odd given its source and its cab sauv dominant blend. Might just have needed more time for the fruits to intensify. There is a certain savory herbal note that I liked a lot. Notes of vanilla beans. Touch of tobacco

On the palate: mid+ body, mid++ finish, a brightness to its acidity. Still largely red fruit flavors across the palate.
Tannins were mid+, but very palatable already.

Aiyah, I think we seriously short changed the wine. This is why I prefer to always just plan out the evening’s wine in advance instead of doing ad hoc picks. Oh well.
