Back up wine to round off the night, after that disappointing encounter with the Pommards.
I’d bought a whole lot of Chablis from this winemaker across multiple vintages and plots. The Heritage is their entry level Chablis.

Overall, the wine tasted very ripe to me.

In the glass: a pale yellow.

On the nose: ripe sweet yellow fruits. Mid minerality. Some citrus. Idk why but it smells a little oaked, but I can’t imagine that to be the case for an entry level Chablis.

On the palate: noticeable but slight residual sugar. Again, this tasted very ripe to me, although thankfully not overly cloying. Bright, but just mid acidity. Low alcohol. Just a very pleasing wine. Mid finish, with a surprising body?

What a fascinating little bottle. This could be such a pleasant poolside sunny day wine, served cooold. But ya know, my preference is always for something much less ripe, more minerally, and just laser. But hey, $65!
