With Hart and the wine hoes.
Ugh, what a different experience. We last drank this over new years and it was stellar. Even under-aerated (I think we aired it for 45 mins) – it was wide open and intensely aromatic. This time round was almost a completely different wine. Huh.

In the glass: light body. Bright ruby. Clear.
On the nose: slow oxed for 2 hour – this wine stayed incredibly shy and very muted for a long time. I was displeased. Oddly, this had a savory herbal note that smells like thyme. Red currant that crept forward. Licorice. It took 3.5 hours for this bottle to open up, but when it did was beautiful. Sweet rich red fruits – dark cherry, red currant. Licorice. The herbal note became less savory and more aromatic.
On the palate: unlike the nose, this was ready to go at 2 hours. Residual sugar, high intensity of flavors- very red fruited focused. A very good juicy tannin that while grippy, was very very palatable. Mid++ acidity, mid + finish. Mid body. Oddly elevated alcohol – I didn’t manage to check the abv
I’m a little confused by how different the 2 bottlings of the same wine were, both in terms of the smell and flavor profile, but also how it presented itself with air. So confusing
