I’ve neeeeever been impressed by Pichon Baron’s Grand Vin. I’ve had some old ones, some from prime vintages like 2010. Enjoyable, but never spectacular or impressive (like their ‘sister’ Pichon Lalande which is beautiful).
This second wine is not remarkable, but it also costs a fraction of the Grand Vin
In the glass: deep rich ruby with a tinge of purple
On the nose: a very linear blackcurrant, tinge of sweet oak and vanilla creme. Mid intensity. Pure.
On the palate: lush, concentrated with mid+ acidity.
Well made. Enjoyable.
