Color me surprised. A surprisingly well made wine with great purity of fruits, and reasonable use of oak.

In the glass: deep ruby. Mid body

On the nose: sweet pure blackcurrant, mid+ intensity, with a waft of sweet oak that surprisingly did not come across as being unbalanced or flabby despite the youth. Also, despite the pure cab sauv, there was an old worldness to this which surprised me. That slight musk.

On the palate: grippy but very fine tannins. Mid+ acidity, mid body, with a fairly long finish.
My only gripe was the fair amount of heat on both the nose and palate – I did not find the alcohol to be well balanced/integrated.

But a surprisingly high quality cab sauv from South Africa of all places!
