With Hart, Sean, Tabs, Steffi, KW, Amanda and G at Sean’s.

This is such an odd fella. Hart and I discovered this Chateau years ago. Ferriere’s sorta this super unspectacular classified Bordeaux, with a rep for severely under-performing its 3rd growth status. That said, I’ve always enjoyed their wines. Tonight’s 2017 was a very good wine.

In the glass, deep ruby with touch garnet at the rim. Mid bodied.

On the nose: just beautiful. Dark blackcurrant, touch herbal, a floral lift, and delicate oak. Beautiful purity of fruits with more than ample complexity. That floral note is so pleasurable. That said, the black currants do take over with air.

On the palate: again, such nice purity of fruits, good concentration, mid body and mid+ acidity that just came together with so much elegance. Silky tannins.

An underperforming chateau, from a poor vintage, yet delivering so much pleasure. Can’t knock it. A good wine is a good wine, regardless of label. Did I mention this is dirt cheap?
