In the glass: rich ruby, with a wide translucent band around the rim. Mid+ bodied
On the nose: oooooooh fresh off the body, this was a rich and dense savory funk, typical of syrah. The age probably has layered on some funky complexity to it. Surprisingly stemmy spiced, although I am not familiar with the winemaker. Peppery. Very ripe and red currant. High intensity
On the palate: high intensity of fruit, with a good weight to the body. Acidity was surprisingly bright, with a nice juiciness. Tannins are present, and generally well resolved. Tons of spiciness on the exhale. Some heat on the exhale as well, but generally balanced against the intensity of fruits on the nose and palate.
