With Hart at the Botswana Butchery
YUM. What a wine. I’ve just been having such tremendous luck with Martinborough Pinots it seems!
In the glass: a rich ruby, with just the tiniest tinge of purple. Beautifully extracted.
On the nose: sweet, rich dark cherries, touch of strawberries. This perfect level of oak, giving it this richness. With air, you get this peek of spiced stem that wasn’t present fresh off the bottle. Maybe the tiniest bit of flint/smoke. This was a beautiful bouquet. That said, it needs a TON of air for the wine to finally relent and expose it fruits.
On the palate: oh just lush, fresh, with a bright juicy acidity. High concentration of fruit, perhaps with a touch of plums. Extremely fine powdery tannins. Touch of residual sugar that matches the nose well.
Some white pepper on the exhale.
Man this was a really good wine and it surprised me.
