At home after Mi Casa. We tried the 2015 at Wes’ birthday and it was delicious – the nose in particular was v complex, beyond the usual cherries from Sangiovese.
The 2016 was supposed to be one of the best vintages.
On the nose, we again got a complex nose, with sour cherry, and almost a touch of dark soy sauce. Wine took about an hour to open up.
On the palette: very grippy tannins and high acidity – so much potential for aging just to mellow it down a tad.
The other boys seem to find the 2015 considerably superior but I disagreed. Without a side by side tasting, I would probably say they are tied. Would definitely buy to cellar.
