Nicki’s hosted wine night. I decided to decant this at home, and carried the entire decanter in the cab to Nicki’s. Genius move: as expected, everyone brought wines that needed time to breathe and I was the only one with a decently decanted wine.

Unlike the castel, the valdicava is a very typical (but very good) Brunello.
Typical brickish color, sour cherry nose (perhaps a bit darker than usual), mid body, high acidity.

Could’ve prolly done with a few more years of aging to calm the acidity down a touch, but it was delicious.
Currently have the 2017 in my fridge (a challenging year apparently), so I know I need to been patient for quite a few more years I reckon
