Not sure what to feel about this. With TSJK and hart at LQV. Northern Rhône Syrah. Medium bodied on inspection. At the nose: small, closed, hints of red fruit and spices. Nose struggled to develop or open up over the course of the hour, and never got to a point where it was enjoyable. I even went to the extent of warming up the glass with my hands. No bueno. On the palette, red fruits, mid acidity, med high tannins, and hints of fresh pepper and minerality. Nothing particularly attractive or charming about this. Oddly enough, this didn’t come across like most other Syrah, with its muted spice. Perhaps it’s too young, who knows. I’ve rarely truly enjoyed Syrah in general though. Disappointing for the price.
