4.0 - incomplete rating. Domaine Gerard Julien & Fils Nuits-Saint-Georges 'Aux Saints-Juliens' 2019.

Dinner party at mine with Hart, SP, tabs, KT. Wine was courtesy of KT. Inconclusive rating, because quite candidly I think we never gave it proper time to breathe. ~40 mins in, nose smelled deliciously of cranberry and some hints of chocolate that lent depth to the nose, and I got spices at exhale. But it was very closed. On the palette: high acidity, grippy tannins, mid body, and medium+ finish. Over the course of dinner, the wine really bloomed on the palette – body firmed up abit became longer on the palette, but the nose lagged behind considerably. Wine got increasingly delicious towards my last couple of sips, but ah. Too bad. Definitely recommend a fat dose of decanting if trying again – perhaps starting at 1.5 hours
