Dinner party at mine with Hart, SP, Tabs and KT. Wine was courtesy of SP. This wine confused me. As expected, this is a Merlot dominant wine, with ~75% Merlot. I’m generally very very sensitive at picking up Merlot, but I would’ve sworn that this was a cab Sauv dominant wine. Weird. In any case – big round dark fruits (black currant dominant) on the nose. Spices and mild leather on exhale. Immediately thought it was a 14-14.5% alc wine – verified to be 14%. On palette, smooth tannins, tongue-coating mouthfeel, medium-high acidity, medium finish. This bottle had the benefit of a generous decanting, and the wine benefit a lot from it. Big wine, good for big meats.
