With Hart at a little wine party somewhere in Philly. I was trying to order a glass of Albarino, but it was unfortunately sold out. The somm attempted to suggest an alternative Moscato, and was quick to notice the grimace on my face and quickly clarified this wasn’t any ordinary moscato: it was apparently dry/off-dry, with a touch of funk. I picked a Chardonnay instead, but Hart was always game and ordered a glass. Fucking champion.
And she was of course well rewarded. On the nose: big waft of lychee, minerality, lemon and just a delicate touch of funk. On the palette, mid acidity, just barely off-dry, stone fruit, and a mid finish. Super refreshing and very very delicious. A cheap and unloved wine no less, based on online reviews. What a find.
