With Hart, Shaun, Maegan, James and Zi For belated birthday and ROM. At Bar Cicheti.
I continue on my exploration of beaujolais, and the hunt for a very specific profile.

This was not it. Off the bottle, this was a dark red, almost purple.
On the nose, red fruits and a steminess that reminds me of cold vintage burgs. Slight funk with an earthiness. Surprisingly sharp alcohol scent, in spite of being just 13.5%

As the wine aerated, the nose developed and developed a depth to it. The green steminess transformed into wood. Long finish. Mid to high acidity.

This was a richer style of Morgon – don’t get me wrong, this was delicious. But I continue to hunt for the light delicate gamays
