Pre-delivery dinner for Tofu girl at home.

Finally got down to trying Barbera. This was a strange bottle. Corovined a glass while preparing dinner. Off the nose fresh of the bottle, it was the straaaaaangest experience. It was a weird stoney minerality, and smelled strongly of…. glycerin / propylene glycol. Super weird. Nose was tight. In the glass, rich maroon color, but mid body that I could see through. Thin dark fruits.

On the palette: distinct plum initially. Mid+ acidity, firm strong tannin (but palatable), and definitely high alcohol on exhale.

Took about 30mins of aerating, the nose reaaally opened up into a riiiich bright red fruit. Huge improvement. Mid long finish. The tannins really smoothened out but remained grippy.

Candidly, the wine became very enjoyable but fairly generic wine as it developed. The thing that remained stuck in my mind is how the nose was at the start. Fascinating, but not excited enough to repurchase.
