Pre-delivery dinner for tofu girl at home.
I dislike a few grapes. Rioja, most Sauvignon Blancs, and fucking Shiraz/syrah. Syrahs in particular are always over ripe and too jammy. Way over oaked (might as well just blend oak and vanilla beans into the wine).
Off the bottle. Super funky on the nose, even after a hour of aeration. This wine NEEDS to breathe in the glass. Bright rich red and medium body in the glass
On the palette: mid high alcohol, distinct spice (cinnamon in particular). Structure tannins that were grippy but very palatable. Mid low acidity. Slightly sweet.
Funk receded after 1.5 hours of aeration, including aggressive swirling in the glass. Nose was dark cherry
Oak. Sweet.
Probably fairly good for Syrah lovers but eh. Im ambivalent.
