With Hart, Tiara and Bradien et al
Hart’s Cali cab!

The first thing I always look out for when I try a Cali cab is: is it overripe and jammy. Is it over oaked. Is the alcohol obnoxious. Thankfully we are good here.

In the glass (I think this had been aerating for an hour?) vibrant ruby with a deep core. On the nose, This wasn’t really dark fruits, and in fact smelled like an Italian cherry note, with a tinge of plums, and just the tiniest touch of smokiness at the end.

Medium body, mild grippy tannins, mid acidity. And just the slightest elevated alcohol on the exhale. Finish was mid.

I had the luxury of letting this breathe in the glass for a solid 30-60 mins. Interesting, this brought forward a sweet vanilla cream note that kept inching out.

I found myself really enjoying the wine, although might’ve liked it even more if that vanilla note stayed in the background.
