With Hart, Sean, tabs, Ben and SM at my Christmas dinner. Wine was courtesy of Sean and Tabs.
I’m super unfamiliar with the Graves / Pessac Leognan region aside from Haut Brion. The ones I’ve had tend to be fairly extracted, well oaked, and have considerable Merlot.
This wine was delicious. One the nose, big waft of blackcurrant and round vanilla that could’ve easily veered into some flabbiness. But nope – this was lean and concentrated. Delicate rose at the background, beautifully balanced. Considerable merlot characteristics.
Funny enough, on the palate this was PURE cab sauv. Lean, focused dark fruits. Slight spice. Mid+ finish with mid+ acidity.
I loved the wine for its rich nose, that remains very lean and focused. This would do SO well with age. Wow.
