At the Ohana Christmas Dinner.

The LP is 1 of the sister Leoville Chateaus, and is supposed to be the more elegant one. Thankfully, they are nowhere close to Leoville las Cases’ pricing. Still, I’ve wanted to try one for a long time, but couldn’t bring myself to pay that kinda price tag in Singapore. Jumped on a great holiday sale: while 2011 is considered an off-vintage in Bordeaux, the LP of the year was supposedly a very good outperformer.

Aerated in the bottle for 1.5hrs.

Into the glass: the first thing that struck me was how concentrated and almost inky the body was. Full bodied. Its color was a dark purple, and just a hint of brown right at the very edge of the meniscus, barely showing its age at all.

On the nose: there is an intensity of rich blackcurrant (although nothing close to a Montrose or a Pavie)
On the palate: the wine was full bodied, dense, broad, round with a mid+ to long finish. The body was a touch silky on entry, but resolved to become grippy on the finish. On the exhale, there was a fair amount of oak, and the Merlot part of the wine really shined. I’m too hungover to research now, but I assume this has a fair bit of Merlot in it. Perhaps not like the typical Graves, but I’m guessing 30-40% Merlot. (Could just be talking shit hehe).

This wine was delicious. It’s rich, but not cloying nor flabby. Wonderfully balanced with finesse, but yet just aaaaalmost decadent.
