With Hart, Yizhen, Sloke, Liz and Daryl at Sloke’s.

3.8/4.0 depending on whether over or under $100.

I’ve been seeing this fella at duty free on arrival, been curious but never got down to trying it. From Domaine Barons de Rothschild Lafite, and seems to have been harvested from various unnamed Pauillac plots.

The TLDR is that this is a fairly straight forward (albeit gentler) Pauillac, more for purity of fruit than complexity.

In the glass: medium body ruby.

On the nose: rich but mid intensity dark and red fruits. They did a good job of not over oaking this wine, given that it doesn’t have the concentration nor intensity to support it. In any case it’s improbable they would’ve used much new oak for this.

On the palate: mid- acidity, dry, mid finish
Spices on the exhale

Drink now, not for aging.
