Final wine delivery of 2024 🙂

Leoville las Cases was 1 of the chateaus that I researched very very deep into this year, and I just found myself drawn to it with no real reason. While classified under the St Julien appellation, it really sits right in the border with Pauillac, and is known for its austere powerful wines more in the style of Pauillac. It’s also consistently the favorite amongst many wine writers I follow.

The Montrose: I’ve tried various vintages just a handful of times in my life, solely because of the generosity of some friends. The first time I tried it was when BSG brought his own bottles to lunch, and pushed a glass across the table and said “try it” with a smug smile. Im not gonna lie: that was ages ago and while I liked it, it didn’t occur to me the sheer magic of this wine. In any case, these are magnificent, and have noses unlike anything I’ve encountered: INTENSELY powerful nose that burst out of the bottle when you remove the cork. They literally fill the room. They are lean, dark, austere and just damn broody. I feel like Batman when I drink em.

Clos du Marquis was Leoville las Cases’ 2nd wine originally that got spun out to become their own separate label Grand Vin. Have yet to try this in a proper glass. Prices are starting to escalate quite aggressively.
