At Zi’s for the annual CNY gathering.

Hart and I bought this after tasting it at Fruit of the Vine 2024.

In the glass, it is a light golden-hay with slight haze.

On the nose: this was a mildly aromatic classic white burg. Initial whiff of that distinct reductive butter popcorn, stony minerality, and oak pleasantly balanced at the background. Some kinda stone fruit, although I never quite figured out what it is.

On the palate: mid acidity, with a silkiness to the body. Very pleasant finish that didn’t veer into being oily. Additional notes in the exhale.

Funnily enough, I’ve found a lot of great white burgs to be too intense for me. There’s something about that way white burgs taste and smell that overwhelms me. In this case, this is a mild but beautifully balanced basic burg. I found this super suitable for my palate, and was just an excellent starting drink without and with food.
