A Canberra Shiraz! My first 🙂

In the glass: medium bodied, deep ruby. Very hardly any hints of purple; this was unlike the Alban.

On the nose: classic bloody animalistic funk, the usual pepper, and maybe more red than black fruits? Hm. Alcohol was much better managed on the nose.

On the palate: while this is still a dry wine, it does have considerably much more residual sugar compared to the other two. The alcohol was similarly muuuuch better integrated than the other, in spite of the high ABV. Mid+ body, coupled with a defined but veeeeeery nicely integrated tannins. Juicy mid+ acidity, palate coating. Maybe juuuust right at the end of almost becoming a little flabby though.

I thought this was a good wine. Like the previous Syrah, it’s hard for me to give BIG Syrah more than 3.9 (with 4 being the line for whether I would personally repurchase for myself) just because that’s not what I find pleasurable. I did find the Alban to be a much more complex wine, which needed a lot more time for the elevated alcohol to settle in a little
