Most restaurants naturally don’t have the financial capacity to hold aged wines, which is such a shame. Who would ever want to drink a 2021 Sassicaia or Ornellaia now. This is where something like a RdM comes in 🙂

In the glass: garnet, mid/mid+ bodied.

On the nose: fresh off the bottle this was just pure red cherries. Not sour cherries, just sweet pure red cherries. Tinge of oak. To be frank, this was nearly indistinguishable from a good ole delicious Chianti. As the wine breathed, the oakiness (both wood and spice) emerged more, and became more in balance with the fruit, but continued staying at the background.

On the palate: mid+ acidity, mid+ grippy tannins that could benefit from a little age to soften it. Super enjoyable menthol flavors and sensations on the palate. The one thing that really stood out to me was how well integrated the alcohol was on both the inhale-nose and palate, despite being a high 14.5%. (Much more noticeable on the exhale).

This was a delicious wine, with super intense and pure fruits. And just $72 at retail! Wow.
