2019 is a very strong vintage, although the elevated alcohol across the board really bugs me. Nonetheless, a good chance to get a first peek at the vintage since I basically never drink classified Bordeaux this young.

The surprising wine of this vintage must be the Pontet Canet. They’ve become increasingly bigger, fruitier and more alcoholic in the past decade. But for some reason, the alcohol on their 2019 vintage is a peeeeerfect 13.5%; much lower than the vintage median of 14-14.5%. How odd. I have high hopes. If this works out, the Pontet 2019 could be a secret gem
