Girolamo Russo’s ‘Nerina’ Etna Bianco 2023
With Hart, Sean, Tabs, Joe, Karina, KW and Steffi ar Bar Cicheti.
I’d asked the somm for a recc for something with high acid, and/or something similar to Tiberio’s Trebbiano. This was the higher acid option provided.
In the glass: pale gold. Clear.
On the nose: bright pure citrus. The thing that stood out immediately at first taste was the delicious white flower / chrysanthemum notes on exhale. As the wine breathed, green apple.
On the palate: high acidity, although not close to being electric or zappy. Has a beautiful silky mid body, with just a touch of residual sugar. Mid finish.
Ooh, I loved the wine, and it was the perfect 1st wine of the dinner. Wouldn’t mind a tiny touch lighter body but that’s just preference specific for a starter wine
