Pietracupa – Greco di Tufo 2021
With Hart, Sean, Tabs, Karina, Joe, Steffi and KW at Bar Cicheti.
This was the Tiberio Trebbiano-like recommendation from the somm.
In the glass: same pale gold and clear body.
On the nose: contrary to the somm’s rec, I found that this was closer to the Valentini-style Trebbiano than Tiberio’s. This was a dry intense aromatic wine, with high minerality, dried apricot, some sorta flowers. As much as I tried, I never got even a hint of almond. In any case, this is unlike the Tiberio, which had a less intense, and much more linear and laser focused citrus.
On the palate: this is still mid bodied, but there’s an intensity. Residual sugar. Mid+ acidity.
Looong intense aromatics on the exhale.
Delicious! Intensely aromatic, has a strong presence on the nose and palate. Super outperformer of the night – $95 at the restaurant, and probably my wine of the night.
In retrospect, this was better as the 3rd than 2nd wine.
