With Zi and James at Temper.
James picked the wine, and I was wrecking my brain over where I had heard of this winemaker before. Then I recalled that Brandon had mentioned their other bottling (the Pietra Marina) was one of the best wine he’s had. I assume this specific Etna Bianco is their most basic bottling?
In the glass: pale gold. Clear.
On the nose: candidly this remained quite shy for most of the night. Touch of citrus. Lean minerality. Lemon zest. Green apple. Very linear, and I assume no oak?
On the palate: mid+ bright energetic minerality. Mid-, maybe slightly short finish. Dry.
The best past of the wine was the exhale. Unlike nosing it, the exhale is intensely aromatic. Mild citrus, but pure minerality. Touch of reduction
Enjoyable first bottle of the night. That said, the finish is somewhat lacking.
