YUM?? I was optimistic, but this exceeded my expectations. The wine was still very young, but what an incredible balanced and fairly complex wine. Quintessential Pauillac.

In the glass: mid+ body ruby with a touch of garnet around the rim.

On the nose: this was finesse and precision I was not expecting. Notes of blackcurrant, aromatic cedar, graphite, sweet oak, a fresh lift. Everything in perfect balance, and each note so linearly distinct. Despite the vintage, this was not a fruit bomb.

On the palate: mid/mid+ acidity that makes this wine so fresh in the mouth. An elegant intensity of fruit; very primary. Long finish. Mid body. A beaaaautiful 13.5% abv.

I was hopeful, but wow. The 2015 GPL had been on my radar, but let me tell you, this is truly excellent winemaking. What a bottle. That said, if you’re looking for power and intensity, this isn’t it.
