With the crew at the Christmas lunch.

Not gonna lie – I was a little bummed. I was keeping this aged bottle for a special occasion, but accidentally ended up bringing it to the lunch. Hurts a little, but the crew liked it so that’s something.

In the glass: oh, a deep rich orangey. Clear.

On the nose: off the bottle, there was almost a touch of TCA / wet cardboard. My heart sank. But THANKFULLY, with air, this bottle shed its muskiness and bloomed. A rich honey, green apple. Sweet. With air, a touch of distinct minerality emerged, and the wine came into a much more sensible balance.

On the palate: sweetish, with a surprising lively mid+ acidity in good balance with the residual sugar. Mid+ intensity with mid++ finish on the palate.

I really enjoyed the bottle, and I’m glad it didn’t end up corked. Just needs to breathe ya know? Love an aged Chenin Blanc. That said, I have to say Demi-secs are not for me. Huet’s secs already have a touch of residual which I think is super well balanced and suits my palate super well
