With the crew at the NYE celebration.
Bottle from my stash.

I’ve been dying to try this, given my loooove for their neighbors Montrose and Cos d’Estournel. But this is a completely different wine.

In the glass: a maroon body, with distinct garnet at the rim. High extracted and concentrated. Opaque, but not quite inky.

On the nose: this was fascinating. Fresh off the bottle and into the decanter, this was a rich warm blackcurrant, blackberries and sweet vanilla cream. But with air, this became a completely different animal. Upfront was a very earthy mushroom that stayed persistent. Blackberries dominant, with black currant at the background. Cedar. And get this: a very savory gaminess, that almost came across like a Syrah. This was such a different wine that it threw me off a little. What an earthy gamey wine.

On the palate: mid+ acidity that was so juicy. Mid/mid- body, but good intensity of fruit on the palate. Long finish. Exhale was primarily fruits, and less of the gaminess.

This was super interesting. Not sure this fits my palate particularly, but it was intriguing.
