Wow. What a delicious little guy! Perhaps the wine of the night for me.
After multiple years of terribly disappointing Barolos and Barbarescos, it looks like the tide is finally turning for me.

In the glass: beautiful bright ruby core that quickly transitions into a large distinctly garnet rim. Mid/mid- body.

On the nose: bottle was left to slow ox, probably a little rushed, because the first bottle of burg was finished so quickly. First poured maybe 45-50 mins after opening. Initially, dominant waft of anise and mint. Redcurrants. Deep dark cherries. Like my previous Barbaresco experience, the wine reaaaally needed air for the red fruits to intensify in the glass, bringing the wine into a much better balance of rich red fruit fruits and herbs. What a delicious energetic bowl of medicinal pleasure. No oak? Or at least this must be the traditional giant Slovenian oak aging with neutral oak.

On the palate: mid++ acidity, very good structure, with tannins that are very present but not even offensive at all. Very high intensity of fruit on the palate. Mid/mid- body, and long finish. Mid+ finish. Quite juicy. Silky.

Oooh, I feel a resurgence of interest in Nebbiolos once again. I wonder what’s different now? After all, I’ve had some barolos/nebbiolos from famous producers that were quite horrid. But this recent string of barolos/barbarescos have been just beaaaaautiful young.
