This was a communal bottle.

Holy shit. Wow I really really disliked this wine. This was Chilean, with 92% Carmenere and 8% Petite Verdot. There had been a lot of hype about Chilean wines, and this wine maker in particular, and I had been eager to try it.

In the glass: high extraction, maroon.

On the nose: the thing that surprised me right off the bat was how delicate the nose was, in contrast to how it looked in the glass. Black berry. A very prominent and persistent capsicum / pyrazines that eventually transitioned into more of an earthiness / dry tobacco. Touch of vanilla cream.

On the palate: bone dry. High concentration of fruits. Unlike how it looked in this glass, this was mid- body, with a very thin and watery finish that also drops off abruptly.
A distinct warm alcohol on exhale.

God, I hated everything about this wine.
