I wanna be upfront. This was a bangingly good wine. Deliberately suppressing the score here, because I wanna see how this blooms with age.

This was decanted for about 3.5 hours. This is still an absolute baby of a wine and needs a ton of air.

In the glass: reference last photo. This was a bright inky ruby. Mid+ body.

On the nose: oh. This is quintessential Pauillac. PUuuuure blackcurrant, a ton of blueberries, a ton of graphite, Christmas spices, a cedar lift, and eucalyptus. This reminded me of the 2010 Leoville las Cases we had previously, except with much more graphite. This wine is about as Pauillac as a Pauillac wine can be. High intensity of aromas. Mmmmmm.

On the palate: oh yum. Distinct tannins and good structure, but very palatable. Mid+ acidity. Surprisingly just mid body, and not as rich / decadent as I say a Pontet Canet. This was bright, energetic, and intense. Like the LLC, I was surprised at how elegant this was, given Lynch Bages’s reputation for being big heavy wine.

This 2009 remains an absolute baby, and is still very very primary. Shudder to think how it will turn out
