With Hart, YZ, Sloke, Liz, Malone and PT at the charming Nicolas.

This was the winemaker and bottle that I was eager to try at the start of the night. This was one of the newer/emerging winemaker in Volnay.

In the glass: garnet ruby with fading into a large bright garnet rim.

On the nose: oh lord. Stems. So much stems. So much stems. Did I mention stems. Overwhelmed the wine and masked the meek red plums.

Thankfully, the wine was much better when drunk. On the palate, touch of spice, surprisingly structured, and now much more sweet red plums which were pleasurable.

On the exhale, a surprisingly aromatic lift of English breakfast tea, which was very unexpected. Earthiness.

This was. Fine. There’s just so much stems my god.
