With Hart at the Crystal Wine tasting
I was most excited for this. I had grabbed a bottle of the same wax capsule bottling for Hart’s birthday.
This was a stunning wine.

In the glass: bright ruby, with touch of bright garnet around the rim. This did not look like a 31 years old wine.
On the nose: what a surprise! This showed muuuuch less tertiary development compared to the 1998. A very dark toned fruit, with blackcurrant and blackberries? This deep savory woodiness. Surprisingly, there’s this very distinct violet floral nose on the exhale that was just pure pleasure. Cedar. Graphite.
On the palate: this did not have the intensity and concentration of fruits like that 2001. It’s a lot more finessed, elegant, and the most surprising of all was this bright juicy freshness on the palate. As to be expected, there wine is still structured on entry, but is so fine grained and resolved that it releases quickly.
I looooooved this wine for its elegance.
