HMMM. An odd bottle.

In the glass: deep ruby, that fans out to a fairly wide translucent rim.

On the nose: this is supposed to be 100% Sangiovese, but I cannot imagine a single human on earth who could blind taste this and guess a pure Sangiovese. It’s very dark fruited, not all that much cherries, and had this very very earthy undertone to it. Quite enjoyable, but lacking typicity of Sangiovese, and smells a little tired.

On the palate: much more enjoyable than the nose! A surprisingly splash of residual sugar, a pure intensity of fruits, and great tannins that are very resolved but still gives the wine a nice structure. Wine was still bright and fresh on the palate. I’m not familiar with the winemaker, but this comes across very extracted and had a health dollop of oak.

Maybe a little past its prime? Idk.
