With Hart and the crew at Rumi x Dani’s birthday dinner.
My pick for the night.

In the glass: ruby with a tinge of purple. Mid- body, clear.
On the nose: this was a little bit of a mystery. Fresh off the bottle, this held so much promise. Smells like low/no stems. A lot of very dark cherries and just dark red fruits. Sweet oak and spices. A savory mushroom. It was tight, but I was very charmed and I was convinced this was going to bloom into a stunning glass. It just has this beautiful dark beauty to it. But nope. Oddly enough, the nose just kept shutting down and became more and more muted with air. Very puzzling. It did eventually start to turn the corner but my glass was gone by then. Puzzling.
On the palate: mid+ acidity with a surprisingly grippy tannin. Nothing offensive; good structure. Tiny touch of residual sugar. Good concentration and body, although not silky.
Beautiful florals on the exhale initially.
Odd. Bottle didn’t perform to my initial hopes.
