With Hart, YZ, Sloke, and Liz at the newly renovated Nicolas.

This. Was. So. Disappointing. I’m still surprised by how underwhelming this was.

In the glass: ruby, light bodied, clear.
On the nose: this was my biggest complaint with this wine. Left to slow ox in bottle for an hour or so, and given air in the glass for a good additional 1-2 hours. The wine never opened up. Meek, vague whispers of dark berries, some stemminess. That’s it. Not much bouquet to speak off; more like a potted succulent. The nose did eventually develop a bit of a savory iron tone. But nothing much to speak of.

On the palate: to be fair, the palate fared considerably better. Mid body and palate coating. Mid+ acidity, juicy, and a mid intensity of red fruits. This went surprisingly well with the fish dish.
