With Hart and half the crew at La Vache.
I need to remind myself: there are fine wines, and there are fun wines. There’s no real need to critically assess every fermented grape juice I come across. Some are just fun wines. Some are just fun wines.
These are all fun wines. All with a giant splash of residual sugar. Juicy. Extremely primary and fruit forward. Bright.

The Yannick Cote 50 was supposed to be a 100% cab franc. This had zero typicity. In fact this smelled like a Beaujolais Nuevo. I know nothing about this wine, but giant burst of carbonic maceration aromatics.
The Louis Jadot was the least bad of the lot. Again I don’t know much about this, but this also smelled like Beaujolais / gamay. A lot less bubblegummy, but a lot of sweet malo and just gamay. Maybe I’m insane.

It’s true: sometimes we can just enjoy a glass of fun wine.
But then again, IS THAT REALLY WHAT I WANNA DRINK WHEN IM HAVING STEAK AND FRITES?
(No).
(Also, the glasses were diabolical. Absolutely horrid).
